There is NO excuse for Organisational Abuse

There is NO excuse for Organisational Abuse

14 March 2013

The  JCCV Child Protection Reference Group has one objective - to educate the community on how best to protect our children from abuse within Jewish organisational settings.

The Reference Group's aims for 2013/2014 are clear:

-        act as resource to assist community organisations to strengthen their child protection policies and procedures;

-        promote resources to educate parents regarding child protection; and

-        Provide a comprehensive Directory linking victims, families and Organisations to support services available by the Jewish and wider community.

Our first step is to brief organisational Presidents and provide a forum to gain feedback on needs, current activity and how we can educate and support the community. A written brief will be sent by March 25th and the forum is currently planned for the next JCCV Council of Presidents’ meeting on April 10. All JCCV affiliate Presidents will be invited together with relevant non-affiliate Presidents.

Andrew Blode, Reference Group Chair and long time advocate in child protection, feels strongly that every organization involved with children must have a comprehensive child protection policy together with a culture to educate and make aware to staff, volunteers, parents and children the risks of child abuse within their setting. The development of a child protection culture is the responsibility and priority of the President and the Board of which there is no excuse for failure to do so.

Nina Bassat, President JCCV, is committed to driving best practice and community support for parents and victims and forging a whole of community response.
