Nina Bassat AM, President of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) today congratulated the Victorian Jewish schools, their students and teachers for achieving outstanding results in this year’s VCE.  Four Victorian Jewish day schools were in the top ten schools for VCE in Victoria as measured by median VCE study score. And five Jewish schools were in the top 20.

Mount Scopus Memorial College, Bialik College and Beth Rivkah Ladies College all achieved median study scores of 37 to place in the top ten alongside selective entry schools like MacRobertson Girls’ High School (which topped the state) and Melbourne High School.  The King David School also placed in the top ten with a median study score of 36.  All the top four Jewish schools had more than 30% of students achieve study scores of 40 and above.

Leibler Yavneh College also achieved outstanding results with a median study score of 36, ranking at number 15 between Shelford Girls’ Grammar and Haileybury Girls’ Grammar.

“We also applaud the schools for their work in other important but less well reported areas, such as developing leadership, a sense of community, kindness and compassion for others.”
