The Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) Youth Alcohol Project (YAP) has launched a Facebook page dedicated to raising awareness about youth and alcohol issues in the Victoria Jewish community.

The YAP Facebook page offers;

  • strategies for parents to manage youth and alcohol issues
  • details of upcoming YAP events and activities in the Jewish community
  • international research results
  • up to date media articles
  • links to other relevant youth and alcohol sites

Furthermore, the YAP Facebook page aims to provide a forum for parents of teenagers in the community to discuss youth and alcohol issues and have a conversation with others that may feel the same way as they do.

The YAP Facebook page is also available for teenagers over 13 years of age. Teenagers are welcome to Like the YAP Facebook page and discuss issues that are important to them and their peers.

Debbie Zauder, JCCV YAP Manager explains “the Facebook page is utilising technology to raise awareness like never before. The YAP Facebook page is the first of its kind internationally.” Zauder states “YAP aims to reduce underage drinking in the Victorian Jewish community through education and awareness.”
