JCCV Deplores Anti-semitic Incident at Adass Israel in Melbourne

26 November 2015

Members of the Victorian Jewish community may have seen a video on social media of an altercation which occurred outside Adass Israel in Melbourne on Thursday evening.

Jennifer Huppert, President of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) stated, “From discussions with Victoria Police we understand that the incident was criminally motivated, and that the individual involved in the incident has been charged.”

“Even if incident was criminally motivated, we are seriously concerned that the person involved used anti-semitic slurs.”

“The JCCV deplores all forms of violence and hatred, especially the threatening and appalling behaviour shown on the video.  This is not behaviour we expect or can accept in Australia.”
