JCCV Presents Jewish Community in Action

10 February 2011

The Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) has developed an online e-bulletin, Jewish Community in Action, to be your on-line link to the Victorian Jewish community. This exciting new JCCV initiative seeks to provide you with an insight into our community’s organisational activities and initiatives.

As the roof body of the Victorian Jewish community, the JCCV has two essential key functions: To advocate on behalf of the community and represent the interests of individual organisations; and support and link Jewish communal organisations. JCCV president, John Searle stated that “Jewish Community in Action aims to inform all community members about issues that impact on our community and receive feedback to better advocate and represent the community.”

Searle continued by stating that “another aim of the e-bulletin is to assist with linking and coordinating the various community organisations with the general public and with each other to avoid duplication and improve effectiveness. Promoting the work of the JCCV is a critical aspect to that role.”

This edition of the e-bulletin includes:

  • A way forward for Halacha, Judaism and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community;
  • How parents can best manage their children’s alcohol consumption;
  • The value of interfaith activities;
  • Winners of the 2010 Community Recognition Awards; and
  • Who and what are the Jewish community organisations

Searle asks that you sign up to receive the e-bulletin by calling 9272 5566, emailing or signing up on the JCCV website at The JCCV welcomes your articles, feedback and suggestions for improvement.
