Joshua Cole, 28, is an American journalist in Australia for the year with the Work and Holiday Visa. He is looking to meet people in the Jewish community and possibly find journalism or communications work.

His grandmother Jeanneatte Grunfeld, 89, is a Holocaust survivor from Germany and currently living in Phoenix, Arizona,USA; her story of growing up and of escaping on the Kindertransport is archived in the book “Frenchy: I Wanted to Get Back at Hitler,” by Tracy Shaler. His late grandfather Theodore Grunfeld escaped Hungary before World War II and fought in the United States Army during the war.

Josh grew up and was Bar Mitzvahed in a Progressive synagogue; since he's been in Australia he's been observing multiple types of services and been meeting people of various backgrounds as part of his personal mission that he plans to archive at

Josh was a reporter and photographer for a community newspaper group in Denver, Colorado, before coming to Australia. A former English teacher, he has a Master's of Arts degree in English from the University of Colorado-Denver, received in December 2010. He graduated from Northwestern University, in Chicago, with a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism in 2004.

In recreation, Josh played water polo at uni, began rock climbing three years ago, and loves bicycle riding in Colorado and here in Melbourne. Although Josh was born and raised in Colorado, he wasn't a skier growing up.
