Peak Body Rings In The Old And New

22 November 2011

There was much excitement at Beth Weizmann on Monday night as the Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) held its first elections for Executive members in more than 20 years. The results saw delegates at the Triennial Conference elect a healthy mix of previous Executive members and newcomers to form the 2012 Executive.

Outgoing JCCV president John Searle, Education portfolio holder Dr Dvir Abramovich and Social Justice portfolio holder Rimma Sverdlin were re-elected to the Executive, joined by IT and marketing professional Daniel Fox, former Legislative Council Member Jennifer Huppert and change management specialist Jackie Phillips.

Incoming JCCV president Nina Bassat AM said: “We have a skilled and strong executive, with an excellent balance of expertise and with a good blend of experienced and new executive members.

“I look forward to working with the team, which I am sure will serve the community enthusiastically and well.”

Members of the new Executive will be called upon to fulfil a wide range of portfolios aligned with the JCCV’s reformulated strategy, including Online Engagement, Affiliate Support Services and Community Engagement.

Delegates at the Triennial Conference also ratified Bassat’s nomination as well as those of vice president Dr Helen Light and honorary treasurer Ian Jones.
