Food Odyssey - Indian Jewish Food in Melbourne

NCJWA (Vic), Viv Brass and Annette Sweet hosted an event with members of the Indian Jewish community.

Held on Sunday 25th March, the event included a cooking demonstration, recipes and stories facilitated by Nancy Sugarman, teacher, writer and devoted lover of food and stories.

Approximately 50 women attended the event, which was supported by the Office of Multicultural Affairs & Citizenship through their Multicultural Festival & Events grants program. The connection to the Indian Jewish community was originally made through the JCCV at a welcome event to the Indian Jewish community  in late 2011.

Recipes included Eggplant & Potato, Vegetable, Black Eyed Bean Curry & Coconut Rice, and Kanavli- Sabbath Cake. A recipe book was produced together with information about the Jews of India.

It was a fabulous event, with lots of information shared and delicious food consumed.
